Create a Viral Report that Spreads Like Wildfire > Viral Marketing

A free report that goes viral can bring in traffic much faster than SEO and PPC combined. It can bring you free targeted visitors, in addition to generating hundreds of backlinks that’ll help you rank in the long run.

How do you create a viral report that others can’t help but pass on? Just follow these guidelines.

==> Extremely Controversial or Extremely Useful

There are basically two kinds of reports that get passed around: those that are controversial and shocking, or those that are so useful that others save them and use them as references.

For example, when John Carlton and Rich Schefren published a list of “bucket brigade” phrases – words to start sentences with that catch attention, the report caught fire and was passed around to thousands in the marketing community.

Why? Because it was useful. It was a list that had never been compiled before, an extremely valuable list for copywriters, given away for free.

==> Getting the Initial Distribution

In order for your report to have the chance of taking off, it needs to get initial distribution. In other words, it needs to be downloaded by between 100 to 500 people first, before the power of virality can take effect.

How can you get those initial users?

Lists are a big one. If you have an email list of a few thousand people, or know people with such lists, send them the free report. If you report is really great, other list owners should be glad to pass it on.

Post the free report to internet forums. Pay to post it in a commercial section if necessary. Again, if your report is great, it’ll generate many replies which will in turn get you more viewers and even more downloads.

Finally, don’t neglect your own network. Even posting it to your Facebook wall, if you have several hundred friends, can help you get the much-needed initial distribution.

==> Tools to Increase Virality

There are a few ways you can increase the viral flow of the report.

The first method is to require an opt-in in order to download the report. While this can really help you capitalize on the traffic generated, it can also turn some people off from downloading the report. Often they just want the report, without the list.

Another method is to embed Facebook and Twitter links inside the report. Make it easy for them to Like, Comment or Tweet your report.

Finally, one often forgotten secret to getting your content passed around is to just ask. Let them know that they have permission to pass the report on and ask them to share it with their friends.

Creating a report that spreads like wildfire does take creativity and market knowledge. It entails creating something original, getting it to a few hundred people and the having the mechanisms to help to spread. Done well, this tactic can launch an obscure business into the limelight.

The Importance of Segmenting Your Email Lists > Email Marketing

Market segmentation is an important aspect of email marketing that you cannot afford to skip over. Segmentation is simply the process of identifying specific and meaningful groups of customers that you can target with specific messages, products and / or services in a way that resonates with them.

Why You Need to Segment

Segmenting your email list, no matter how small, is an important step toward boosting customer loyalty, increasing purchasing and it will help spark your creativity in terms of creating new products and services for your customers.

  • Boost Customer Loyalty
  • Increase Purchasing
  • Spark Creativity

You can introduce some very simple segmentation into your email marketing using your autoresponder’s segmentation features. Most autoresponders offer some sort of segmenting features. If it doesn’t, then you need to switch services because segmentation is an important tool to use that will make all your marketing efforts exponentially more effective.

How to Segment

First, decide how you want to segment your list members. A great way to start with segmenting is to segment based on behavior. Separating those who have purchased a specific item from those who have not is a good first step.

You can even segment subscribers from the beginning of their subscription by putting different sign up forms on each landing page they use to sign up for your email list. Aweber makes it a simple and straight forward process and these are the segmenting features available. Other autoresponders will likely have similar options.

  • Segmenting with Forms – You can include segmentation criteria right on a sign up form. Male from female, income levels, topics of interest and more. You can do this by adding questions that a subscriber clicks, and you can also do it by putting a different sign up form on different landing pages.
  • Behavioral Segmenting – You can segment based on who clicks various links in your email messages. You can do it via a link inside a normal message, or you can set up a poll specifically designed to assign people to various lists based on their answers. You can incentivize clicks by offering coupons, free downloads, letting subscribers choose their sales and more.
  • Surveys & Poll Segmentation – You can send buyers, subscribers, and list members surveys and polls that segment them based on their answers or in the case of some, their lack of answers. This is a great way to segment list members after they’ve signed up.
  • Give Members Self Segmenting Options – With Aweber you can actually include self-segmenting options in specific messages such as a rating scale so that your readers can rate your messages, products and services, thus adding them to a specific segment of your list.

Each of these ideas works by providing a special link to your subscribers that takes them to a hidden page on your website once they click it. Then by clicking it they also, due to the code involved, automatically get added to the specific list based on the segmentation criteria. Once it’s set up, inside your autoresponder service, it runs itself and is pretty hands off.

Segmenting customers from prospects is a good starting point into email marketing segmentation. When you do that, you’ll be able to better personalize and target your email marketing messages to make a bigger impact on their future behavior and increase sales exponentially.

Boost Your Traffic with Article Marketing in Twenty Minutes a Day > Article Marketing

Article marketing doesn’t have to be time intensive. It doesn’t have to take ages to take effect either. In fact, with proper outsourcing you can use article marketing to drive herds of traffic to your website in less than twenty minutes a day. Here’s how.

==> Doing Your Keyword Research

The keyword research and title writing are the most important parts of the process. By and large it’s best to do this yourself. This is what takes up half of the twenty minutes.

Aim for low competition keywords to start with. Yes, you can rank for high competition keywords in the long run, but if you’re looking for an instant traffic boost, go for the low-hanging fruit.

Pick out those keywords and write attention-catching titles for them. A reader should feel instantly drawn to the title just by reading it. Remember, it’s not just about rankings, it’s also about getting people to click on your listing once you’re ranked.

==> Find a Quality Writer You Trust

Find one or two quality writers that you can trust. Usually you’ll have to go through five or six writers before you can find one or two that are truly stellar.

Make sure they have first class English. Make sure their writing is grammatically correct and has personality. Check it against Copyscape for the first few submissions.

Also pay attention to their response time. How long do they take to reply to emails? Is their work turned in early, on time or a little bit late? Their behavior early in the relationship is a good indicator of what it’ll be like working with them in the long run.

Find one or two outsourcers you feel confident outsourcing the article submissions to. Logging into various sites and submitting articles by hand is very time-consuming. An outsourcer will be happy to do it for $1 or $2 apiece.

Alternatively, you can learn to use automated submission software. Unfortunately, most of the top article directories like EzineArticles and GoArticles don’t accept automated submissions.

==> Create a Consistent Publishing Schedule

Create a consistent schedule for when you want content published. For example, let’s say you want to publish two articles a week.

Create a list of topics and titles for your writer for the month. Make sure any questions about the assignment are answered before they start.

Contact your article publisher and let them know when to expect the articles. You can send them all the articles at once and ask for them to be published twice a week, or just send the articles to them to be published as they come to you.

This whole process will take a week or two to set up. But once it’s up and going, something miraculous will happen: you’ll get all the benefits of article marketing, while putting in very little time yourself. Just sit back and work on other areas of your business while the article traffic starts coming in.

Preparing for a Great Facebook Live Event > Facebook Live

If you want to host the best possible Facebook Live event it is important that you carry out some important tasks before you record it. In this article we will explain the best way to prepare for a great Facebook Live event.

Get your Lighting right

When Facebook users attend a live event they want to see the face of the person that is hosting the event clearly. If this is not the case then they are very likely to leave the event quickly. Unfortunately, there are lots of Facebook Live events where the lighting was clearly wrong and this has spoiled the whole presentation.

One of the most common mistakes that people make with lighting is that they face a window in their home or office when sunlight is streaming in. This tends to create a lot of glare which could make the image of the host very unclear. A better approach is to sit with your back to a window with streaming sunlight as this will tend to create a high quality video image.

If you are not recording your Facebook Live event during the day then you may need to invest in some special lighting which will produce the highest quality video image. Quite often the lighting that exists in homes and offices is not up to the job.

Use an Uncluttered Environment

You need to check the background of your environment. If this is full of clutter then this can be a serious distraction for your audience. A large clock in the background can force your viewers to look at it instead of you for example.
Always bear in mind that you are trying to present a professional image of your business with all of your Facebook Live events. Nobody is going to be impressed if you record your live events against a background of clutter.

Make sure that other people do not interrupt your Facebook Live recording. There is no reason why you shouldn’t record your event at home, but it will be very distracting if your children or one of your pets suddenly makes an appearance. This will probably give your audience a laugh and it is OK one time, but you don’t want this to happen more than once. Do your best to prevent it happening at all.

Test your Internet Connection

A lot of businesses these days use a WiFi router for their Internet connection. This is fine but you need to ensure that you have the strongest possible signal before you go live. If the Internet drops out during your event then this will come across as completely unprofessional. If you are unsure that your WiFi signal is strong enough then use a cable connection.

Practice your Facebook Live Event Recording

There is a feature within Facebook Live where you can create practice recordings before you actually go live. If you are new to recording live events we strongly recommend that you take advantage of this. You can play this back to see what you did right and what you did wrong.

Another advantage of using a practice video is that you can check to see if there are any distractions and if the lighting is just right for your recording. If you find any problems then you can put these right before you go live.

Your Email List – The Center of Your Content Marketing > Email Marketing

You know content is king, but how do you maximize your content marketing efforts? Here are a few things to help you do just that:

  • Put your focus on building a list and you’ll have a valuable asset to tap into over and over again.
  • Numbers don’t matter as much as results. Focus on conversion strategies over building volume.
  • You don’t have to do all the work. Employ the help of guest writers, ghostwriters and private label content.
  • When you work hard just to work hard, you’re not doing yourself any favors. Spend less time working and more time strategizing. That’s where the money is.

Put Your Focus on Building a List

Many online business owners feel that they need to blog X times per week or they have to write X articles per day.

It’s a dangerous trap because in this case, they’ve decided to SCHEDULE tasks, instead of working on RESULTS.

Whatever you’ve decided your schedule to be, this is NOT your magical formula to a successful online business.

Your key to a successful online business is knowing where to spend your time for maximum results.

It’s worth repeating – your key to a successful online business is knowing where to spend your time for maximum results.

It doesn’t matter how much people are singing praises for social media, blogging and other more modern ways of communicating…there is one key asset to your online business that you never want to forget about. And yes, it’s your mailing list.

Of course, all those other activities you do – like blogging, distributing content and “socializing” are important to your online business and they are what drives your list building.

Of course, just having a list isn’t enough. You’ve got to maximize that resource as well.

It’s all well and good that you have the tips to build the list, but what are you going to do with it? Well, you’re going to build a relationship with your readers, give them great advice they’ll come back for over and over again and you’re going to deliver AWESOME products to them too.

Here are a few tips that will help you make the most of your list:

  • Keep in regular touch, but don’t knock yourself out when you don’t have something to share. You want your readers to remember you and readily open your email, so email them when you have something interesting and useful to tell or sell them.
  • Speak directly to your audience. Get to know your readers and what they are looking for. Understand their dreams and their pains, so you can deliver what they want when they want. Write to them as if you’re writing a letter to a dear friend who needs your help. Be sincere. Be real.
  • Give information, but also give regular and relevant offers. If your goal is to sell a product, put your focus on that in that particular email. And better yet, be informative when you sell. The products you sell and recommend should enhance your readers lives, help them achieve their goals and/or solve their problems — your promotions can do the same.
  • Limit the number of links you include in an email. If you want them to really click a particular link, make that the only link in your email to increase click throughs on that particular link. If you have a newsletter with a few different topics or sections, make sure to mention the most important part at the beginning of the email. As interesting as we hope to be to our readers, their attention spans wane and they are not likely to read through the entire email.

Whatever you do, be prepared to evolve to your market’s ever-changing needs. As your list grows…you will gain new insights, know what works and what doesn’t. The more you can be in tune with, tap into that, and adjust where necessary, the more valuable a resource your list becomes.

Boost Credibility and Conversions with Testimonials > Sales Conversion

One of the easiest ways to boost your credibility online is to collect and display the positive feedback you’ve received about your products and services.

Consumers readily make buying decisions based on the feedback of their friends and the testimonial is an extension of that. While testimonials don’t usually come from someone they know personally, they are a form of social proof in that they can see that there are other people, just like them, who have also used particular products and services.

But not all testimonials are created equal. In addition to having tips on how to get testimonials, I’ve also got easy to follow suggestions on how to do it and how to publish them.

Getting Testimonials

There are a number of ways to collect testimonials. Sometimes you’ll get them without asking and other times, you may need to ask. It doesn’t really matter how you get them because both ways can produce very powerful testimonials.

A few tips:

  • Always collect emails that people send you, thanking you for your product or service. The best thing to do is ask for permission to share them and publish them right away, but if you don’t have time, put them into a testimonials folder, so you know where they are when you want to publish.
  • Save blog comments or feedback you receive through your social media participation. You can save them by taking a screenshot of the page and cropping it to show the relevant feedback. On a PC, you just click CTRL + prt sc and then you can paste that into a graphics editing program for cropping and saving.
  • Ask your customers for feedback. If you’re already talking to them, you can ask them if they don’t mind providing feedback. You can also set up an automatic autoresponder to ask for it after a certain amount of days after a purchase. That way, you won’t forget to ask anyone who buys your product.
  • Ask “celebrities” in your niche for a testimonial or endorsement. Whether it’s a popular blogger, an expert or an author, if it’s someone people in your market readily recognize, it can go a long way to boosting your credibility.
  • Facebook’s Like Plugin that shows “X also like this” is a form of testimonial as well. If you have a large following, it’s an easy way to partially automate your testimonial process. You still want to collect specific testimonials, so people can learn why people like your product and why they should try it too.

How to Make Sure You Get Quality Testimonials

When it comes to testimonials, the more specific and detailed a testimonial, the more meaningful it is to your potential client or customer. Testimonials that scream things like, “It was awesome!” don’t really say much, do they?

Some tips for quality testimonials:

  • Ask your customers specific questions because detail adds believability and credibility. For example, ask them how long they’ve used your product, how they used it and what results they achieved.
  • Where possible, always use your customer’s real and full name. Ask them for a photo as well. Before and after pictures are also great, if they apply to your product.
  • Video testimonials are great because your prospects can actually see a living, breathing customer. Of course, you need to make sure your customer sounds sincere and acts natural.

Once you have some testimonials, start publishing them and add more as you go along. Add product-specific testimonials to your product page. General testimonials are perfect for your home page and about us page. You can even make a specific testimonials page that showcases the testimonials throughout your website.
