The Power of Communities in Marketing Through Facebook Groups > Facebook Marketing

One of the most powerful and important aspects of marketing is something that very few businesses or marketers think about: that is community. A community is any collection of people who feel a certain kinship, often due to a shared set of interests, values, or cultural activities.

Communities online emerge all the time around certain topics and hobbies. And one of the most obvious examples of this is in Facebook groups. Good Facebook groups don’t necessarily create communities, but tap into those that already exist and give them a forum in which to communicate and grow. And some of the biggest hits in the world come from these kinds of communities. Right now on the web, there are countless businesses trying to make it in the emerging Nootropics industry. These are supplements designed to make people more productive, more creative, or more focused. The problem is that companies bring out products with the same promises as all their competitors and then disappear without making a splash.

One company that was successful however was Natural Stacks, which found success with a product called CILTeP. The reason for this was that CILTeP began life in a forum one user discovered the combination and became popular sharing their creation for free with the members of Longevity. By doing this, they developed a big following that was almost guaranteed to buy the product and to create buzz for it.

The same thing happens in games development all the time. The truly successful indie games are almost always the ones that began life as free Flash titles (such as Super Meat Boy, or more recently My Friend Pedro). These games build big followings while the creator shares their experience crafting the title.

There is a huge difference between something that truly feels home grown by the community itself, versus something that an outside brand tells a community they’re Supposed to like. Moreover, there is a huge difference between a lead and a friend. When someone in an online community really knows you and considers you at least an Online friend, they will not only be much more likely to buy your product, but also to provide useful feedback, to help you promote it, and to shout about it to anyone who will listen. In short, they want to help you succeed. This is what many businesses never even try to do. Instead of thinking of making as many followers or customers as possible, think about making a couple of friends.

Webinar Comparison: Live versus On-Demand > Webinars

Most of the time, when you hold a webinar it is going to be live. In fact, that’s pretty much the definition of a webinar – a live presentation that has attendees and a presenter. But there may be some instances where it makes more sense to record the webinar in advance without an audience present and then make it available on demand. In this article, we will explore the benefits and disadvantages of both of these styles of webinars.

Live Webinars

Live webinars are obviously the standard. Hosting a live webinar has a number of advantages including being able to instantly give information to your audience. This is important if they are working on something time sensitive or that would benefit them financially (such as when your information will help them improve their business).

In addition, when you host a live webinar, you can answer questions that your attendees have. This is obviously impossible in any sort of conventional sense when you do an on-demand webinar. Sometimes, an attendee will not understand a concept or idea that you present and answering their question will clear up their confusion.

Also, live webinars allow you to charge money. On-demand webinars can also be downloaded for a fee, but people are definitely willing to pay more for a live webinar. Generally, when someone pays the ticket price for the live webinar, you can then allow them to download the recording for free.

On-Demand Webinars

Webinars that are on-demand can also be advantageous. The disadvantage of holding a live webinar is that people who want to attend have to actually be available on the day and during the time that it is going on. Having an on-demand webinar can allow busy people to download it or view it at their leisure, which many will be able to appreciate.

Webinars on-demand also have the advantage of the do-over. Sometimes, no matter how well you prepare, something can be completely wrong. Technical issues can bring down a webinar and more than one presenter has reviewed their webinar recording and found that there was no audio or some other problem that made the webinar unusable.

Finally, webinars on demand can be filmed in segments. If you have an extremely busy schedule you will appreciate this feature. Sometimes, you are just too busy to host a webinar for three hours, not to mention all of the prep time. An on-demand webinar can solve this problem.
